We cultivate our own Cacay in agroecological farms, following a sustainable model that respects nature’s cycle. From planting, through harvesting and drying, to cold extraction, every step is traceable and carried out with dedication. We do not use pesticides or harsh chemical processes: only the purity of the soil, the climate of the plains, and the work of skilled hands.

At Tacay Natural Oils, we follow a philosophy based on the triple impact model. Beyond strategies for economic growth, we focus on creating a sustainable social and environmental ecosystem. A core principle is supporting farmers working in post-conflict zones. Over 400 families grow Cacay, and we purchase their harvests under fair trade and cash payment policies. We raise awareness among our suppliers about the importance of preserving Cacay trees—not only for their commercial value but also for their exceptional carbon capture capacity, directly impacting climate change mitigation. Many Cacay trees were cut down in past decades due to lack of knowledge about their benefits and uses.
Since we began developing an industry around Cacay—which includes nursery setup, cultivation, technology deployment for oil extraction, product design, and building a strong national and international customer base—tree owners have become more committed to caring for their Cacay trees and planting more, contributing to reforestation. It’s a highly profitable and sustainable business, as every part of the Cacay is used: organic waste like shells becomes compost, husks are used as fuel for machinery, and the by-product from oil extraction—high-protein flour—has great potential in today’s market where consumers seek healthy alternatives to animal-based protein.
We manage 50 hectares of Cacay crops using responsible agricultural practices that protect local water sources, promote efficient water use, and significantly improve soil quality while avoiding harmful products. By 2027, we aim to reach our peak production capacity of 50,000 liters of oil, ensuring we can meet the growing market demand.
